She DOES Listening

Madeleine has been repeating everything we say but I was wondering how much really was sticking. We Sunday morning I was getting Madeleine ready for church and I buttoned her last button and said lets put your shoes on. Before I could even grab her shoes she said, "I'm Cute!" I kinda giggled and said "Yes, you are cute." Then as we were driving by my parents neighborhood and Madeleine was asking for Kimmie. We tried to explain she was at church and we were going to meet her there. How did she know that was Kimmie's neighborhood? Sunday night Madeleine and I did a little shopping before we headed to church. When we got to church she asked for her purse. I gave it to her and we began to walk in she stopped in the parking lot and said, "Wait, cellphone!" She got her cellphone out of her purse, opened it up and was pushing buttons as we walked in. I have no idea where she would have seen or learned that. Madeleine also made new friends, the people who sat behind us too her and she said with them for a while, she came back to us but towards the end of church went right back to them. The daughter is home schooled and can babysit during the day so I am very excited!
Jahno has another flat tire so I am going to have to spend another lovely day at Discount Tire...I am sure he picked up a nail driving through the high water. There was one part where he was driving through puddles in a construction area and he also drove over a board. I am going to start making him go to discount tire if he can't be careful. ;-)

Saturday's Adventure

We had a very busy Saturday. We got up and headed to my parent's, we needed to be there about 8:00am. Mom and I went to My cousin's bridal shower. Madeleine and Jahno and Grand Dad went Cracker Barrel for Breakfast. Then we headed to Jahno's boss or co-worker's daughter's birthday. We stayed there for a couple hours and then headed to Jahno's PawPaw's for his birthday. We were warned that their neighborhood was flooded in the front but we were planning on coming in the back. There was some higher water but low enough for us to go through. We ate our second lunch and Madeleine played for a while but it sounded like it was about to start pouring again so we left. We had to go back out the back again because of the water. We took 288 which was fine water-wise but there were parts Hwy 6 that were closed due to high water. So we had to take some back road through Alvin and it was a big maze! I was afraid we weren't going to make it home especially when Mustang was unpassable. We take some side roads and went up by McDonalds and the College. The other side of Mustang was ok and we made it home. Out 30 min trip took a hour and a half but we are home. It has started rumbling and raining again but at least we are home.

April Birthday Party

Mom's Club does a monthly birthday party (I think) for all the kids and we were finally able to go. Even though there was a chance of rain it was at Resoft Park. Madeleine wanted to start playing as soon as we got there. I was only able to keep her in the smaller playground for a short time and once she saw the big slides it was over. She also found the stairs and we went down the stairs, up the hill across the swing bridge over and over again. We also fed the ducks and Maddie actually fed them and didn't run when they came close. There were baby ducks which were sooooo cute! They were just as aggressive as the big ducks at getting bread. Here are some pictures.

After the party we went to Salad Express which was absolutely yummy!!! Then we had to go to Target to pick up a couple gifts. I like the fact that registry tell you what a person wants but with out a little picture it is very hard to find exactly what they want. There are isles and isles if the same product but different colors...seriously. Anyways, I finally found one of the several things I decided on and moved to the toys. Jahno's...I guess boss's daughter is having a birthday party and we were going to drop by. I know nothing about her and we don't have to bring a gift but I felt like we should take a little something. Jahno had told me she was 8 and was doing crafts when he was over there. Well, I tried to call him to double check on her age and I had no reception. So it came down to this Pottery Tea Set that you painted or this thing you make really cool jewelry out of. Well, She is the only girl and they have a dog so I figured the glass tea set would just break so I got the jewelry set it was not to mention it was for 4+ and the tea set was 8+. I finally got out of the toy section with this really cool jewelry set and cookie monster for Madeleine. As we left Madeleine did not want to hold my hand as we walked through the parking lot, so I held her by her arm, screaming through the parking lot. But once we got to the car she saw Harvey and was fine. What a mess! Oh Harvey is a bunny Meme gave Madeleine for Easter. Madeleine calls him Haarrr-Vey, It is so cute. So that was our Friday!

Friday

Yesterday we went over to my parents for dinner. I bought on of those meal deals from HEB and had a huge brisket. Madeleine and I went over there early since we were out. Madeleine had a little melt down and then Kimmie got there and everything was all better. We started cooking and then Grand Dad got home. Madeleine had Grand Dad take hid shoes and socks off and wanted to put the on. On a side note, with Madeleine it is shoesocks, they are one and have to go together. If you take your shoes off you have to take your socks off and vise versa. Anyways. So Grand Dad helped her get his socks and boots on and then she needed help walking. She is a bit of a mess and she talking about everything. The Brisket was really good and we went for Marble Slab after dinner and of course that was great! I did end up with a migraine I can't seem to kick which stinks but I will live and we are going to the Mom's Club April Birthday party this morning.

Thursday

The Spicy Mango Chicken never paned out. After it marinated for 24 hours, Jahno had a meeting after work so I was waiting until he was on his way to start cooking. I wasn't sure if Madeleine was going to eat it so I gave her a PBJ. Jahno's meeting was over by where that build collapsed so he made it sound like it was going to take him forever to get home. Well, it did not take him forever. As soon as he got home I went to cook the chicken...apparently he was starving and afraid it was going to take a while so we went to Joe's Bar BQ. I was going to cook the chicken the next night...Wednesday, but I was a little nervous because I completely thawed the chicken in warm water and the chicken was warm when I stuck it back in the fridge. 24 hours I am sure it would have been ok but 48 I was worried about Salmanela. (However you spell it) So we had Quesadilla's last night. So the cooking has slowed down a little bit, but I made a menu and I am trying.
Aunt Sue Sue got Madeleine a really cute Patio Chair. It was a pain to put together and it was missing a piece but it wasn't vital and it was all worth it to see Madeleine in it. She has been sitting in it every chance she gets and we took it outside yesterday and she sat in it and refused to get out of it. The only way I got her out for a split second was putting her duck where she had to get out of the chair to get it but she hopped right back in right after I got the picture.

Then I was trying to get her inside but she wasn't having it. I told her I was going inside thinking she would follow...Nope, she told me "Bye" and waved. I went to stand by her and she told me to go inside. We had a talk about her being bossy and I tried to go inside thinking she would follow now...nope again she told me "Bye". So I went and sat on the stairs and left the door cracked. She just watched me as she sat in her chair. Little Turkey! We finally made her come in and she threw a fit but came and sat in her chair inside.

Did that really just happen...

Madeleine and I took a shower this morning and we getting ready for the day. I was pretty much ready so I went to get Maddie dress. When Madeleine was like 6 months old I went shopping and found this really cute outfit but all they had was a 2T so I got it anyways and she would grow into it. I found it in her closet and decided she would wear it. I put the shirt on and it fit perfect and I put the shirt on and it looked a little loose but not any looser than her other pants. She looked so cute! As she was walking down the hall the skirt ended up around her ankles and she just looked at me. I was cracking up!!! You only see that stuff on TV but it happened. I grabbed my camera and the battery was dead...Grrr! I don't think a picture would have done it justice. I left the shirt on but switched out the skirt which she still looks really cute because the shirt is what makes the outfit.

Monday...

Well after an exhausting weekend we all slept very well last night. Madeleine even slept a little later and if she had not lost her pacifier even later...which would have been really nice. We went grocery shopping and I saved $18 on top of spending half of what I usually do because I took the advice of the hillbilly housewife. Maddie was being a little difficult but for some reason everyone wanted to stop and talk about how cute and well behaved she was. We finally finished and were heading home when Madeleine started telling me she was hungry. I decided to grab something and the whole way home she was saying "Please Mommy?" We got home and she ate 5 chicken nuggets while I put up the groceries. We both laid down for a nap...I slept for several hours...Madeleine slept for close to 5 hours...I guess we were all tired! I got ready to start dinner and I double checked the recipe to make sure how long it would take. I chopped and got everything together and then realized it did need to marinate....grrrrrr!!! So I put it in the fridge and called Jahno we could either go to Salad Expess or have PBJ's...I was thinking he would give in and we would go to Salad Express, but No. Everything else on the menu called for long prep or long cook times so grrrr. Maddie and I have PBJ's often so I really didn't want that. I searched and searched and decided to make Chicken salad...yes, I would have to chop more stuff but it was better than nothing. So today I have chopped more than I have my whole life between the 2 dinners and all my fruit! Well, dinner tomorrow will be easy, Grilled Spicy Mango Chicken...well marinated. I will get the hang of the cooking sooner or later...I WILL!!!
After Dinner, Madeleine was asking us to read to her...again and again. Usually she just say "Read, Read" and hands us a book. Tonight she looked at me and said "Mommy, Please Read." And sat down in her new chair. It was the cutest thing and just melted our hearts. So I read Thomas the Train 4 times! I will try to get some pictures of her new chair.
